Culture-Cast.org Call for Submissions

Culture-cast.org is a new media group dedicated to casting a critical eye on traditional media. We want to pause the news cycle where it needs to be so paused, to delve deeper into events, actions, histories, personalities, and the language that surrounds our issues of the day. We also want to provide a truly alternative outlet: to recommend and review music, art, literature, poetry, film, and other media that are missing from traditional media outlets (even alternative media misses some quality goods). There are few reviews or recommendations for books, music, poetry, films, and art that aren't current or "hot," despite their outstanding qualities. More importantly, we wish to do so for free.

We are issuing a call for submission for both our podcast and blogs. We are accepting submissions of two types: artistic and commentary. Artistic submissions include short stories, brief (one-act or two-act) plays, or original music. Commentary will address an issue of import in current events in depth (750-1000 words textual, 5-10 minutes audio). By submitting, you are agreeing to allow us to distribute your content in a podcast or blog segment as protected by the Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial Share Alike 3.0 license; however, you will retain all rights other than our single, stated use.

If you wish to become a regular contributor, you will receive an e-mail address, login, public bio, and server space for preparatory purposes.
To learn more about submission rules and guidelines, or to join our organization as a member, please log on to our website:

A new entry has just been posted to the BlogCast. The post discusses the recent discovery that the God Squad is now spreading the gospel through the popular console game Halo. Among other interesting questions, it asks, "what better way to impart the bloody and violent legacy of Christianity-as-practiced as opposed to Christianity-as-Christlike-behavior?"

The newest version of the site is in the final phases of adoption. We would like your feedback concerning the appearance and content updates. Some of the biggest changes include updates to navigation (CSS menus - more accessible). Thanks for staying with us as we've continued to update and revise the site moving toward this final release. We hope you stay with us as we continue to grow. If you would like to contact us concerning the new layout or content, please visit the Contact Page. If you are having trouble with the menus (they appear in large, blocky lists), you should upgrade from Internet Explorer 6 to either Firefox 2.0 or IE 7.
