New Site Version
Posted: 11 Jul 2007
The site update is in full "soft" testing. If this were software, it would be version 2.0rc1. The news (as you can plainly see) is now displayed to the left of the main content on each page. The menus have changed to reflect our broadening content and contributors. If you have any trouble negotiating the site, we have created a new SiteMap, available from the main menu.
We still want your contribution: if you are an artist who wants exposure or just an opinionated individual with comments for the world, please visit the contribution guidelines at http://culture-cast.org/contribute.html and be heard! If you'd like to become a regular contributor, please visit http://culture-cast.org/join.html - you'll get server space, an e-mail address, and a platform from which to address the world!
Redesign Announcements, New Episode
Posted: 6 Jul 2007
First: a few announcements. The redesign of the site is almost complete, and we should roll out within the next two weeks. New, cleaner styles, easier navigation, and better organization should definitely improve the feel of culture-cast. Second: The blogs are up - beta gold - and we've added a multi-user client. This is a better time than ever to join up! Visit the "Join Us" page. under the main menu.
Finally: A new episode has just been uploaded. See the Podcast Homepage for more information: this is a long one.
New Episode added - Finally
Posted 11 Jun 2007
We have finally posted a new episode to the podcast! While we didn't quite get to the timeline, we'll use that in an upcoming episode to arrive sometime within the next week or two. We were proud to feature our Vonnegut tribute as well as our Student Loan piece, and our musical selections from Allison Crowe were fantastic as promised. Christopher Salerno provided a reading of his poem, "The End of Winter." To download the episode, visit our podcast homepage at http://podcast.culture-cast.org.
We're Back! ... mostly ... and Coming Soon
Posted 7 Jun 2007
We are slowly returning from a monthlong hiatus, still working on the promised redesign, but it will take some time. If you want to help speed it up, please take a load off of our backs by contributing your ideas and segments to the podcast, your thoughts and words to the blog. This was intended as a community production, and we would love to have a broader base from which to begin. We also have a new episode coming soon featuring our long-promised trubite to Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., his life and effect on American literature. Also featured is an in-depth discussion of the student loan scandal, and an analysis of the media's treatment and our reaction. Musical selections from Allison Crowe.
New Host - A Few Warnings
Posted 18 Apr 2007
We've moved our site to a new host, and there may be a few problems over the next couple of weeks as we get the site back up and running. Certain features may have changed slightly, and our podcasts have been delayed somewhat because of the porting. Bear with us as we continue to get everything back up to speed.
Podcast Episode Added
Posted 6 Apr 2007
In this episode, we return to the ideas of bias and objectivity that we discussed in our most recent episode. We address public perceptions of bias in the media and point out one of the worst media offenders in the bias lie. We relive the month of April in the 1970s in our Time Capsule session; and once again, we feature two readings by poet Thomas David Lisk from These Beautiful Limits, his new volume, available from Parlor Press [Parlor Press], "World's Religions" and "Oregon Trail." If you can't get enough of Dr. Lisk's work, visit his blog, Oilcloth and Linoleum at http://www.oilclothlinoleum.blogspot.com. Our musical selections come from Rob Costlow [Website], a solo pianist whose music will take you away. Mr. Costlow has a style of his own, precise and passionate at the same time. We encourage you to visit his site to learn more at http://www.robcostlow.com.
